Milan Kumar Lal,
Doctor in Plant Physiology, working in the area of abiotic, biotic stress and nutritional
aspects of rice and other starchy crops at ICAR-Central Rice Research
Institute, Cuttack, India. He is an expert worker in the area of abiotic stress
such as drought, heat, salinity, and heavy metal. He is also working on the
aspect of the effect of biotic stress such as fungus, viruses and bacteria on
plant physiological, biochemical and molecular responses. Apart from this, he
also has expertise in the nutritional and quality aspects of starchy crops,
including resistant starch, glycemic index, phytonutrients, functional
fermented foods and bioactive compounds, and various processing techniques for the
enhancement of these components. His findings have generated more than 120
publications in international peer-reviewed journals like Elsevier, Springer
and CRC Press. He is also the Editor of 5 Internationally published books,
which is popular in the area of plant science. He is currently serving in the
editorials of more than 6 international journals and is the recipient of
prestigious awards such as the NAAS Young Scientist, IARI PhD Merit Medal
Award, Best PhD Thesis Award, RD Asana Gold Medal Award, Young Researcher
Award, and many National and International awards.
